Sarah Vandervliet, LAC - Clinical Director

Sarah Vandervleit has dedicated the last decade to the world of behavioral health, with a deep passion for working with children and adolescents. She specializes in play therapy and trauma-informed care, drawing on her extensive experience as a licensed associate counselor for over two years and a practicing children's therapist for four years. Sarah is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with specialized training in sand tray therapy. Her journey in psychology began with a profound desire to instill hope and resilience in young minds, guiding them as they navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences. She believes in the power of a safe and nurturing environment where children can express themselves freely and discover their inner strengths.

Outside of her professional life, Sarah finds solace and inspiration in music and the outdoors. She enjoys being off-grid among the trees or on the water, is an avid hiker, self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur, and nature enthusiast. Her three beloved fur babies, Bear, Blu, and Stevie, often join her on her adventures.

Cindhy Gutierrez - Employee Relations Manager

Cindhy is a dedicated and results-driven Human Resources professional with a strong foundation in HR principles and practice. Cindhy has successfully contributed to the growth and development of various organizations. Cindhy is currently pursuing further education to enhance her HR expertise.

Throughout her career, Cindhy has demonstrated exceptional skills in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and conflict resolution. She has a proven track record of implementing effective HR strategies that align with organizational goals and foster a positive work environment. In her current role, Cindhy has played a pivotal role in streamlining the recruitment process, resulting in reduction in time-to-hire and an increase in employee retention.

Cindhy is known for her strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive HR matters with professionalism and confidentiality. She is passionate about creating inclusive and diverse workplaces where employees can thrive and reach their full potential.

Outside of work, Cindhy enjoys spending time with her loved ones, training at the gym, and playing with her dogs. She is committed to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest HR trends and best practices.

Monic Melgoza - Office Manager

Monica Melgoza, originally from San Diego, CA, moved to Arizona during the COVID pandemic. She initially studied to become a nurse and was set to work in a hospital when the pandemic caused widespread shutdowns. Pivoting her career, she began working with adults in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) before transitioning to case management with Honor Health. Though she found her work rewarding, Monica felt a calling to help children and eventually moved to a behavioral health agency focused on childcare.

Now, at Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services, Monica is passionate about making a positive impact in children's lives, ensuring they have the right support to grow up healthy, happy, and with people they can count on.

In her personal life, Monica enjoys spending time with her husband, three stepsons, and her dog, Oreo. A sports enthusiast, she has played soccer for 20 years, learning valuable life lessons about teamwork, resilience, and responsibility. She also loves hiking and traveling, with dreams of hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and swimming with sharks off Catalina Island. Monica is a Disney fan at heart, embracing the magic and joy it brings to her life. 

 

Angelina Villalpando - Therapist

Angelina Villalpando is a dedicated therapist at Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in Mental Health and Trauma at the University of Denver. With four years of experience working with youth in behavioral health, Angelina is passionate about helping young people navigate life's challenges. She creates a collaborative therapeutic environment where clients can safely explore their emotions and develop personalized coping strategies. In her sessions, clients can expect a blend of support, challenge, and genuine connection.

Outside of her professional life, Angelina enjoys spending time with her family as the oldest of seven, coaching volleyball, and going to the movies. She loves visiting bookstores and making Target runs. A fun fact about Angelina is her Wonder Woman collection, which symbolizes her belief in empowering her clients and providing them with compassion, much like the iconic superhero.

Vianey Diaz

Vianey Diaz is the Intake Specialist at Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services. She graduated from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in social work. During her internship, she collaborated with other integrated healthcare professionals to create recovery plans for clients, developed and facilitated coping skills groups, and honed her case management abilities.

Vianey has continued to work in the behavioral health field and joined Red Mountain as the Program Coordinator for the Weekend Retreat Program in May 2024. She is committed to a client-centered approach that aligns with Red Mountain's motto: "Bring hope, heal lives, serve others."

Elijah Reid - Life Skills Coach

Elijah Reid is a dedicated Life Skills Coach at Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services. In his current role as the Community-Based Program Manager, Elijah oversees and guides impactful programs that enhance the lives of individuals and families within the community. His passion for helping others is deeply rooted in his commitment to fostering personal growth, emotional well-being, and healthy relationships.

Elijah is also pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Behavioral Health Counseling with an emphasis on Family and Marriage at Grand Canyon University. This advanced education equips him with the expertise to support individuals and families in navigating the complexities of life, relationships, and mental health. Driven by a desire to empower others, Elijah focuses on helping people overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve their goals.

Outside of his professional life, Elijah enjoys snowboarding, participating in weekly trivia, hiking, and engaging in activities that keep him active and inspired. His hobbies provide a well-rounded balance to his life. Elijah is passionate about his work because he believes in the power of community and the importance of supporting one another through life’s ups and downs. He is committed to making a positive difference, one person at a time.

Aaron Hughes - Case Manager

Aaron Hughes serves as a Case Manager at Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services. With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and three and a half years of experience in behavioral health, Aaron is committed to helping individuals across various age ranges and levels of need. He is passionate about guiding others to identify their strengths, fostering self-love, and achieving personal goals. Aaron's role allows him to connect deeply with individuals during their most vulnerable moments, making a meaningful impact on their lives.

Outside of work, Aaron enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and embarking on adventures with his fur baby, Oliver.

Alyssa Cameron – Case Manager

Alyssa Cameron has been a dedicated member of the Red Mountain Behavioral Health Services (RMBHS) team since June 2022. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Family and Human Development at Arizona State University (ASU), driven by her passion for understanding and improving family dynamics and human relationships. Alyssa plans to further her education by pursuing a master’s degree in social work.

Outside of her professional and academic life, Alyssa is a proud pet mom to two cats, Peach and Jinx, and a playful puppy named Pickles. She is also an avid creator, with a current interest in learning the art of nail design. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys spending quality moments with her family, friends, and her boyfriend.

Wendy Lugo-Hanson - Director of Rural Services, Yuma, AZ

As the Director of Rural Services, I bring over a decade of experience in behavioral health, specializing in clinical oversight, program coordination, and trauma-informed care. Wendy’s career path includes serving as the Southern Regional Clinical Director, where she was responsible for training staff, crisis intervention, and ensuring compliance across multiple regions. Wendy has a diverse background that spans clinical therapy, administrative leadership, and direct oversight of department staff. In roles such as Clinical Program Director and Behavioral Health Clinician, she provided comprehensive care to a wide range of clients, including victims of trauma, individuals with behavioral challenges, and incarcerated populations. Wendy’s responsibilities have included everything from clinical supervision and program development to case management and crisis intervention.

Outside of work, Wendy enjoys spending quality time with my family and her three dogs. Reading is another passion of hers, allowing her to continually expand her knowledge both professionally and personally. Whether navigating the complexities of rural healthcare services or exploring new ideas through literature, Wendy is committed to improving the lives of those in the communities she serves.
